It’s that time of year again! The ice is melting, the days
are getting longer, and you can feel the warmth in the air which can only mean
one thing: SPRING! I’m sure you are ready to pull out those spring dresses and
sandals and put away all those scratchy sweaters until next year, but don’t put
all of it away just yet. Yes with spring comes warmer weather, but there’s
still a slight nip in the air and you may want to hold onto a few of those key
winter items for at least another month anyway. So, what key items am I
referring to? Certainly not the thick wool coat or the fur boots…feel free to
put those away now…but the slightly less bulky items that you have been wearing
all winter long. To help you out I’ve put together a list of 5 items that
transition easily from winter to spring.
#1: The Scarf
Scarves are wonderful accessories that come in all patterns
and colors. Scarves don’t discriminate when it comes to size so everyone can
wear these beautiful add on pieces and not feel too fat or too thin. They can
also transition from one season to the next with ease so splurging on one would
be a financial win. However; before you go out and spend a big chunk of your
paycheck on a brand new spring scarf, look at the scarves you were wearing
during the winter. Of course you don’t want to keep wearing the thick cotton
one that you wore solely to keep you warm, but pick the one with the lighter
fabric that is bold and vibrant in color. In spring, scarves are meant to be
eye candy pieces and not necessarily to function as a neck warmer. For my
example I chose a very beautiful coral scarf with turquoise flowers and paired
it with a sleeveless turquoise dress, nude heels, and a nude purse. This is the
perfect outfit for a dinner date with friends.

#2: The Long-Sleeved
Dress
Dresses are the perfect article of clothing for spring
especially the floral ones. There’s just something about seeing all the flowers
in bloom that makes you want to have them with you at all times. I don’t think
it’s possible for me to even put on a floral dress without feeling super girly
and romantic. While the sleeveless and strappy ones are amazing, don’t forget
about that pretty little long-sleeved dress you were wearing all through the
winter. Yes you may have had to wear thick tights under it and a coat over it,
but now with it being spring you can bear those legs and shed that coat. The
awesomeness of the dress can now stand on its own. I wouldn’t try to transition
that dress all the way to summer, but it’s perfect for spring because there are
still days it may be slightly cool outside and those long sleeves will come in
handy. For my example I chose a gorgeous long-sleeved dress with red and pink
flowers that is a light weight material. I paired the dress with a cute pair of
black mary jane clogs and a black purse. This outfit has a retro 90s feel to it
which I absolutely love. You can wear sandals or wedges instead if you prefer.
This is the perfect outfit for running errands or just being out and about
enjoying the wonderful spring air.

#3: The Cardigan
Who doesn’t love a nice cardigan? This was a stable wardrobe
piece this winter and it’s safe to say I think it will keep going strong right
into spring. You don’t want to wear the thick furry one on a nice spring day of
course, but that one you have in the slightly lighter material which you wore
in the winter despite the fact you were shivering…yeah that’s the one you want
to bring into spring with you. While the long sleeves will ward off any
lingering chill in the air, you won’t get overheated. And of course you will
still look super awesome. Be sure to pick the cardigan that is the springiest
in color. Don’t try to hold onto that winter print even though it’s
amazing….save it for next winter! For my example I chose a pink open front
cardigan in a light material and paired it with distressed skinny jeans, nude
heeled booties, and a nude camisole. You can opt for sandals or wedges instead
if you’re ready to set your toes free for spring. This is the perfect outfit
for that movie date with your significant other or for running around town with
your girls.

#4: The Booties
The bootie has become a must have in everyone’s wardrobe. It
isn’t as tall as a full boot, but it isn’t as short as just a shoe…it’s the
perfect size to pair with almost any outfit. When getting ready to bring out
that spring wardrobe just look at all the possibilities and outfit combinations
that you can have with those awesome booties you were thinking of putting away.
Yes it’s ok to put away any boots or booties that have fur or just have the
general look of a winter boot, but those sexy tan booties that you lived in all
last season can be lived in this season as well. And yes ladies, you can wear
those booties with that dress! Booties actually look super cute with dresses so
if you’re not quite ready to let your feet out to play, booties are your saving
grace. For my example I chose a royal blue shift dress in a ¾ sleeve and paired
it with a gorgeous pair of tan scrunched booties and a tan hat. I’m not a big
fan of hats in general, but this one pulls this whole outfit together in the
most adorable way. This is the perfect outfit for a day of shopping with your
friends.

#5: The Blue Jean
Jacket
Everyone should own a blue jean jacket…EVERYONE! These
jackets are extremely versatile and can be worn with just about everything.
There isn’t a season where you should put this item away. Even in the summer it
may be chilly enough at night to wear one of these when you are at a friend’s
barbeque. So, by all means put away that fur coat and that thick sweater you
only wore to keep from freezing to death, but keep the blue jean jacket ready
to go all year long. That beautiful floral dress you are wearing for spring…yes
you can wear this jacket with that too. So, when you want to dress it up on a
date but make sure you stay warm while out at night or if you are going
somewhere you want to be more covered like church this jacket comes in handy.
It provides just enough warmth to ward off that nighttime spring chill, but
won’t smother you with heat on those hot spring days. For my example I chose a
beautiful white dress with blue flowers and a lace bodice and paired it with
the must have blue jean jacket and a pair of blue wedges. This is the perfect
outfit for that day date with your significant other or for a nice walk through
the city.
